Hello Jan,

Well, you can use the timer to trigger the Randomizer and create actions that output DMX data. The Randomizer is an action source that will execute a randomly picked action from its list whenever it is refreshed. So you could use a timer for refreshing the Randomizer and create actions in the Randomizer list that will create DMX output. The result will be that you can create a number of fixed DMX output data. Which data will be used is then randomly picket whenever the timer ends. The limitation of this approach is that, eventually, you will run out of actions you can create (and therefor the number of different DMX ouptuts) since this has an upper limit. If this is a problem, you might want to look at more effect engine like approaches. These are available for most of our products, from relatively easy to use Cuety to our complicated but very powerful and flexible software named CueluxPro.
Hope this helps you getting where you want and please let me know if you want more insight in any approach.
Best regards,

Jurrien
