Title: iPhone Remote: Tutorial
Post by: Jeroen van der Velden on June 09, 2009, 12:32:19 PM
The Cuelux Remote allows you to view the patch including addresses and dipswitch settings per fixture in real-time from your iPhone, and it even allows you to trigger the playback-buttons remote!

To use the Cuelux Remote on your iPhone, follow the next steps.

STEP 1
(http://www.visualproductions.nl/shared/iphone_connect.png)
Make sure the computer running Cuelux and your iPhone are connected via WIFI (for example via a simple WIFI router as displayed.

STEP 2
(http://www.visualproductions.nl/shared/iphone_enable.png)
In Cuelux, go to Options -> Remote and enable "'Enable Remote Control".

STEP 3
(http://www.visualproductions.nl/shared/iphone_browse.png)
On your iPhone, browse to the address displayed in Cuelux.

FINISHED!

hi,
You don't need to purchase an app. It works through an inbuilt webserver in Cuelux.

Could you guys make it also work for WM?  ::)

It's actually a web-based app, so it should run on windows mobile as well. Only thing you need is a modern browser and a screen resolution roughly the same as the iPhone.

Okay, tried it, but I only could see the DMX-adresses.. I'm using IE (mobile).
Title: ipod Touch Remote mit MacBook Pro Computer-to-Computer Netzwerk
Post by: eventsmithy on February 06, 2010, 08:22:52 AM
Hallo,

Was mache ich falsch

Grüße eventsmithy

hi Eventsmtty,

To be honest I have never tried an Airport myself. For the moment I cannot think of a reason why it shouldn't work. I'll have to dig into it ...

this is great for testing fixtures.
would be great if we could control fixture channel specific things. dimmer, colors, pan tilt, lamp on off etc..

Are you sure you've connected the CueCable and activated Remote Control?

Absolutely, like I say I can use my iPhone and it works fine but trying it on the HTC Desire just won't load anything, it just sits at a blank screen. It's using exactly the same address ... :-(

So, any ideas? I'm still having the same problem. Seems weird the iPhone works fine but not the HTC. Like you say, it shouldn't matter because it's just a webpage!

 Been trying lots, but it never loads :-(

What browser are you using?
Title: Re: iPhone Remote: Tutorial
Post by: Lufferov on May 03, 2010, 01:39:40 PM
It's the default HTC Desire browser, don't know what it is. I would guess it's just the normal Android browser, but can't say for certain. I just click the Internet icon on the phone.

And how do you connect to the internet?

It's using my home wifi network, both devices connect in the same way.

Hmmm...
It probably has something to do with Adroid/Adroids browser..

Try to install Opera on your phone.

I've just downloaded and tried Opera 5 mini and get the same results, just a progress bar that never loads the page.

I produced a quick video to show you what happens, here:

Think, think, think........  :-\

Have you tried changing your port?
Title: Re: iPhone Remote: Tutorial
Post by: Maarten Engels on May 03, 2010, 03:43:19 PM
is Javascript enabled in your browser?
Title: Re: iPhone Remote: Tutorial
Post by: Lufferov on May 03, 2010, 04:05:05 PM
@Maarten Yes JavaScript is working fine on other web pages, I just checked to make sure.

@Rick Just tried a couple of different ports, but no difference.

Has anyone else managed to use the remote on the HTC Desire, or any Android OS phone? Is this a problem that is exclusive to me or is it more widespread?

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Someone on YouTube spotted my phone wasn't actually connected to the wifi, even though the phone settings said it should be. Turns out I had to reboot my router and get a new connection. Such a stupid thing, means my phone hasn't been connected to the network for days! I hadn't noticed a thing...

Just shows how good the 3G connections on mobile phones are these days that I couldn't tell the difference between that and my ADSL broadband!

Sorry for wasting your time, I didn't do it deliberately. I blame my crappy router!

I'm brainstorming on this for days. I'm glad it's not a bug :)

No problem; we learn as well from this scenario.
Title: Re: iPhone Remote: Tutorial => how to hide the title bar automatically
Post by: pbel on June 14, 2010, 11:46:34 PM
If you add this to the end of your html header / beginning of html body it should hide the title bar on the iphone:

...
<meta name = "viewport" content = "width = device-width, user-scalable=no">
    <!-- script um auf dem iPhone die Adresszeile auszublenden-->
   <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
      // Hide MobileSafari Toolbar when page is loaded
      window.addEventListener("load", function() { setTimeout(loaded, 100) }, false);
      function loaded() {
         document.getElementById("topbar").style.visibility = "visible";
         window.scrollTo(0, 1); // pan to the bottom, hides the location bar
      }
   </script>
   <!-- ende ausblendskript-->

</head>
<body>

<div id="topbar" width: 300px >

....
cheers
Petr

The location bar should already hide on the iPhone as the startup() function does exactly that (scroll to 0,1).

However, as iPhone OS changes those "tricks" might stop working.

Hello,
tomorrow i will get my new Iphone 4 and the first thing..okay maybe the second thing i will do is to control my dmx lights with the Iphone... :D so i´ve looked how to manage it but i read that there is only a possibility to manage the playback buttons and the dip-switches... Are there any plans to upgrade new features like RGB-controlling or PAN/TILT or only simple faders to controll the lights?
it'll be a nice feature 8)

greetings Pascal

Hi Pascal,

It would be a nice feature to control the RGB and pan/tilt with your iPhone.
At this point we do not have plans of changing the Cuelux remote.

Good luck with your new iPhone :)

Bart

I have made an Ad-Hoc network from my Macbook pro for use with Cuelux. I am unable to get the Cuelux remote to load correctly on the iphone without direct WiFi access. When i load the cuelux remote over the ad-hoc, none of the buttons load. Also, am I able to use "fader start" enabled cues from the remote.

Note: I have written this post for a friend via his (Thomas)  account. He does not speak English, but rather Deutsch. He would greatly appreciate a reply in Deutsch so that he can start learning the program on his own now that he has seen Deutsch speakers on the forum. Much thanks! ;D

Hi Thomas,

I am sorry but I can not answer your post in German, since my German is not so good.
Have you tried the tutorial shown in this topic (http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?topic=1325.0)?

Bart

Have you actually assigned any cuelist to a playback BUTTON? The Iphone remote displays the playback buttons, not the playback faders! You can check - and change - this by opening the PLAY menu, and click on GO BUTTONS (top-right of the window).

Just tried it on a 4s and its working fine.
Double check if the Cuelux computer & 4s are using the same network range.

The Cuelux Remote is a web-based application. You can enable this in the cuelux settings and connect with a browser. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Boyd you are correct!

I had already answered this for Ray last week:

Hi Ray

Re: your "p.s." :  The Cuelux remote is not an App.

In Cuelux you go to Options / Remote / tick "enable remote" then browse to the address you see on your phone!!

Hope that helps  :)
