Title: DALI input to DaliCore
Post by: GardG on June 13, 2022, 01:49:49 PM
I'm experimenting with a DaliCore, but I think there's something quite basic I'm not getting. The end goal is to use a DALI street lighting system (by a local manufacturer) to control 4 DMX colour changers, using scene changes to set colours plus an overall intensity control. For testing in the office I'm using an OSRAM Dali Magic with the DALI Wizard software to transmit DALI, as I don't have a Datek system available here.

What I don't understand is how the DALI master is supposed to send DALI to the DaliCore when the DaliCore doesn't have a DALI address. The 'Core doesn't appear when searching for DALI control gears in the DALI Wizard software, and thus I can't send any commands to it. I can send broadcast, and in the DaliCore web interface I can see that the DaliCore receives some of the DALI broadcast commands (intensity, not scene changes), but I'm not getting any further than that.

I don't think DALI Wizard can be forced to send DALI to an address where it hasn't discovered a slave unit, and I can't think of any other DALI controllers that would allow this either (?)

What am I missing here? How do I get a DALI controller to actually reach the DaliCore?

Hi,

The DaliCore will have "virtual fixtures" added in the future. You could then find and control these fixtures using external DALI controllers.
Unfortunately I do not have an estimated time of arrival for this feature right now.
