Title: CueLux - BCF2000 Small Tutorial and questions
Post by: popy on December 27, 2009, 04:00:15 PM
Hallo Guys.

After playing around with the BCF2000 and Cuelux here is a small tutorial which could be very helpfull for newbies (like me  :) )

First Download MidiOX 7.0 from here: http://www.midiox.com/ (http://www.midiox.com/)
Install it and launch it, Cuelux should not  run!!!

Configure MidiOX:

Dump your Current BCF2000 Config (Complete SysEX Dump):

Send/Store SysEX Dump:

If it is a complete SysEX Dump, the bcf stores all the data automaticlly
If you just send one preset (like the cuelux sysex dump) you must store the received data to one preset.

You are done configuring your bcf2000. Reset it once!

Configuring BCF2000 in Cuelux:

Now you are ready. Restart Cuelux, select the correct preset on your BCF2000 (where you have sored the sysex dump) and have fun.

If you want to create your own Midi Map copy the file "behringer.xml" from "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Visual Productions\Cuelux\Midimaps\Factory" to "C:\Users\pOpY\Documents\Visual Productions\Cuelux\Midimaps\User" and edit it with notepad.

Example: You want to replace the fog button with blinder function. Search in the file for "Global Fog" and replace it with "Global Blinder". You are done :-)

Here are some example functions:

Fog, Blinder or Strobe:

                        <task type="Global Fog" feature="Play State" function ="Control">
                            <argument type="Play State">Flash</argument>

                        <task type="Global Blinder" feature="Play State" function ="Control">
                            <argument type="Play State">Flash</argument>

                        <task type="Global Strobe" feature="Play State" function ="Control">
                            <argument type="Play State">Flash</argument>

Release:

         <action>
               <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 1 - Message 11 - Index 115</trigger>
                     <tasks>
                             <task type="Special" feature="Release" function ="Control"/>
                      </tasks>
         </action>

Blackout:

          <action>
                <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Down">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 31</trigger>
                      <tasks>
                              <task type="Special" feature="Blackout" function ="Toggle"/>
                      </tasks>
         </action>

               <action>
                          <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Blackout</trigger>
                          <tasks>
                              <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
                                  <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 72</argument>
                              </task>
                          </tasks>
            </action>

Grandmaster:

         <action>
                <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 88</trigger>
                        <tasks>
                             <task type="Special" feature="Grand Master" function ="Control"/>
                      </tasks>
         </action>

            <action>
                          <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Grand Master</trigger>
                          <tasks>
                              <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
                                  <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 88</argument>
                              </task>
                          </tasks>
            </action>

You must correct the Message and Index Value to the button you want. You can read this values with midi-OX. Just Press the button or move the silder.

Save the file, restart cuelux and select the new Midimap in "Options/Midi". All User Maps beginns with "[USER]" so select "[USER] Behringer...".

Ill hopes this helps you.

@Support: I have some questions regarding the BCF2000:

First of all: Very nicely done this tutorial! Thank you.

Example for 'Release' from tascam.xml:

<action>
      <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 1 - Message 11 - Index 115</trigger>
            <tasks>
                    <task type="Special" feature="Release" function ="Control"/>
             </tasks>
</action>

Example for 'Blackout' and 'Grandmaster' from korg.xml:

 <action>
       <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Down">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 31</trigger>
             <tasks>
                     <task type="Special" feature="Blackout" function ="Toggle"/>
             </tasks>
</action>

<action>
       <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 13</trigger>
               <tasks>
                    <task type="Special" feature="Grand Master" function ="Control"/>
             </tasks>
</action>

You can't assign midi controls directly to fixture attributes, it needs to go through a playback.

Hello Maarten.

No Problem  :) Could set it as sticky And attach the the SysEX Dump? That would be very nice.

I will try out the xml code today or tomorrow and post my results.

Tobias

Thank you Maarten.

The XML Code from your post above works  ;D

But now i have the next question. I have mapped the fader 8 of the BCF as Grand Master. How can i map the Grand Master of Cuelux (if i move the fader in cuelux) that the fader 8 of the BCF moves?

I have try`d it with the following code:

                <action>
                    <trigger type="Special" specifier="Change">Grand Master</trigger>
                    <tasks>
                        <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
                            <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 88</argument>
                        </task>
                    </tasks>
      </action>

But it doesnt work.

Is it also possible to show the Blackout Status on the button i have mapped blackout function.

Thank you
Best Regards
Tobias

Hello Maarten.

The Grandmaster now works.

The Blackout in theory  :) if i press the blackout button in cuelux (with mouse) the led works correctly. But if i press the button on the bcf it doesnt work correctly. ill think the bcf2000 does change the state its self, if i press it. This conflicts with the state that cuelux sends.

What can i do that it works correctly?

Best Regards
Tobias

Sorry to have kept you waiting; it required some testing...

please use:

                <action>
                    <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Up">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 72</trigger>
                    <tasks>
                        <task type="Special" feature="Blackout" function ="Toggle"/>
                    </tasks>
      </action>

It now triggers on the release of the behringer's button, so it will receive its LED status from Cuelux after it had been set internally by the BCF.

One catch: the 'Up' trigger wasn't implemented yet in v1.00.9. I have just programmed it and it will be available in the next release.

Hey Marteen,

I have a question. I'm using Cuelux in Mac OS Leopard and it's working great.
At first: Thank you for this tutorial. But I can't find a version of it for Mac.

Is there any Tool or Midi Support for Macs?

Best,
Pablo

Good question. I am using 'Midi Monitor' (http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor) as testing tool on Mac. But I don't think it can dump sysex.

That's why Snoize.com offers the SysEx Librarian :)

Allright, thanks. So, just for understanding:

I have to download at first the .syx File, I dump it into my SysEx Librarian and then I upload the Informations to my BCF?
Cause that doesn't work. I am such a noobie in this things :-)

Thank 4 help!

I have tested sysex file with the Sysex Librarian tool on the mac. Everything seemed to go okay, but the unit was not sending out any midi, it was responding to the feedback from Cuelux.

So I have recorded a new dump file using the Sysex librarian and tested again. Now the BCF works fine with the sysex dump.

Please find the sysex dump attached.

Hello Maarten.

Tomorrow i will update to the newest build. Could there be any problems with my custom bcf2000 mapper?

I am using your first sysexdump from this thread, is this ok for the newest build, or should ill use your second?

thanks popy

hi Popy,

I expect the first sysex dump to work fine. I made the second version only because the first version would not upload using a Mac tool, the second did.

Hello Maarten.

Thanks for the answer, it works very good with the first sysex dump and the newest build of cuelux.

Yesterday i have updated my CueLux to the newest v1.01 Build 16.

First of all NOW (after some work) it runs very stable and there are no crashes or deadlocks on startup. The older Version sometimes had this problem -> click cuelux.exe, the proccess appears in the task manager and went away afer a few seconds. Or it displays a black window with cuelux-style mouse curser and so on.

After updating to the newest build i also experienced a problem, after some testes i changed the following things:

I'll think there is something wrong with my old custom map file.

Here you can download 2x Mapper Files (one from older Build - named old and the one from the newer build - with my changes - named new): http://rapidshare.com/files/361899023/CUELUX.zip.html

The old mapper file makes cuelux very instable on startup, the new one works perfectly.

Please take a look in the old, may you could find the problem in the software and work around or implement something to prevent of using old mapper files.

Maybe this helps other Users if they want to update to newer build.

Another Question regarding Stacks: Is there any manual out there? I want to use this function but dont know how.

and the next question to my behringer mapper file. I have changed one button to ;D

Quote
                <action>
                    <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 91</trigger>

                        <task type="Special" feature="Blackout" function ="Toggle"/>
                    </tasks>
            </action>

The blackout button works until i'll press it. In my mapper file i have used function Toggle, but it doesent seems to work!?

One more time: I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THE LATEST VERSION. PLEASE GIVE THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR TEAM!!

Best Regards
Tobias

Hi Raystream,

If I understand right you are wanting to make a good image for marketing?

I will email you a link where you can download a selection of Cuelux images & logo to add to your BCF graphic.  Sorry I don't have one to hand already!

I choose to supply one version of a midimap with Cuelux but i totally understand that you might prefer a different layout.

Please feel free to customize the midimap:
- go to your user/mydocuments folder -> \Visual Productions\Cuelux\midimap
- copy \factory\behringer.xml to \user\behringer.xml
- edit the file with a text editor.

You can easily change the 4 function buttons in the bottom right corner of the bcf. As far as I know the 'encoder group' buttons do not tranmit any midi message them selves, so it would not be possible to assign fucntions directly to these buttons.

I'll think there is something wrong with my old custom map file.

hi Tobias,

Sorry to have kept you waiting.

- the syntax in the midimap.xml is still changing a little as I make further improvements. I recommend always using the files from the latest release, these files are automatically installed in the user/cuelux/midimap/factory folder.

- For the time being while I have not updated the manual yet, please read http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?topic=893.0 for more info on Stacks

- the "Change" keyword in your midimap code will trigger this action on a level change, in this case that will be an ButtonDown and a ButtonUp Event. Alternative keywords are "Down" and "Up" and correspond to those single events. So currently with one button press the action will be trigger twice, performing a toggle twice, resulting in I think a little flash on the blackout. I recommend changing the keyword "Change" into "Down" for the desired effect.

regards,
Maarten

Hi Maarten.

No Problem.

- ok i am understanding but if you check the user/cuelux/midimap/user files if it is compatible with your current syntax you could prevent that new users have problem on updating.

- Thanks for this  :)

- I will try it, thanks

Hi, Cuelux people! We are learning how to use this great software and setting it with a BCF2000. Thanks for the sysex files and the links for the Mac apps. The only problem I have with the BCF is the Go/Rel button. All the other buttons work fine, but this one doesn't do anything. If I press the button in the software with my mouse, the led in the BCF lits (If I press the mouse again the led still lits), but if I press the button in the BCF, the software does nothing... Anyone can help me? Thank you very much anyway

Hmm... since today I have a BCF 2000 in white  ;D
I use it with Mac Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.3 and Windows 7

My problems are: I must double push on the buttons to play or stop a Cue bzw. change the bank.
Bank 1: the first three fader move synchron up and down if I touch one of them.

Where can I change this settings? Sorry I´m a noob  :-[

Beezer, for me that worked:

download this program:

http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

and this file:

http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=871.0;attach=57

(I don't know if this link works. If it does not, the file is in the last reply of the first page of this topic)

Open SysExLibrarian and you'll see an "Add..." button. Select the file and push "Play" to send it to the BCF. The led screen should start to flash and when it finish, everything should work. IMPORTANT: Once you have done the whole process, SAVE the preset (look at the BCF manual). If you don't, when you switch the BCF off,  you have to do everything again...

Good luck!... and sorry for my english...

Yes it works... but if I switch the BCF2000 off and later on -> it don´t work with the new settings... it seems to load the factory settings

Sorry my English is bad, too  :-X

That is what I mean. You have to press the "store" button twice to save the data.

Please take a look in the first post:

Quote

Send/Store SysEX Dump:

Exit the GS Mode with the Exit Button or restart your bcf2000
Select the preset you want to overwrite
Select in MidiOX View/SysEX
Select "Send Sysex File" in first Menu and select the file you want to send (for cuelux preset the attached sysex dump)
MidiOX sends the file and the BCD shows an animation on the display

If it is a complete SysEX Dump, the bcf stores all the data automaticlly
If you just send one preset (like the cuelux sysex dump) you must store the received data to one preset.

To do so, just press the store button once (led flashes), select the preset you want to overwrite with the preset buttons, press
store again to overwrite the selected preset with the received data.

I've a strange problem.. When I'm using my BCF, some buttons are acting strange. When changing the bank, I've to press twice and the lcd says: "on" and "off".
Also the led stays on.

I solved this problem by flashing the sysex-file (v2) again. But when I accidentally hit the preset-button, my preset is lost?! So I have to flash it on and on...

How to solve this?

Your preset is not lost, you just have to go back to the previous preset.  I'm afraid that the only solution is not to hit the preset button. Put some tape on them or something to avoid pressing them accidentally...

Going back to P1 doesn't help..
And tape looks crappy.. There should be another solution...

Have a look again at the very first post in this topic; it sounds like you still need to store the preset.

The Left for Movingheads and the Right for Par64 or Spots ?

Thx

In theory, yes. But I haven't done it myself. It's a bit complicated as one BCF should be connected through the other one. Cuelux only supports 1 Midi device. It would also involve changing the midimap.

Thanks

Good evening and Merry Christmas,

I'm sitting here in front of a BCF and fight with it's midimap:

I replaced the Fog-Button with Release and it works nearly fine. The function itself works but the led on the BCF isn't working. It's always dark, whether the cuelux-relase lights or not (the led isn't broken-down, I've tested that)
I tried following code for nothing:

<action>
                   <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Release Active</trigger>
                  <tasks>
                      <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
                            <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 91</argument>
                        </task>
                    </tasks>
            </action>

My other problem is the feedback for the attack-values: If I change the attack in cuelux, my BCF doesn't change it's LED's. The other way round (change at BCF => change at cuelux) just works fine.

The code I've tried out:

 <action>
                    <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Playback Fader 01 LevelTer</trigger>
                    <tasks>
                        <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
                            <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 9</argument>
                        </task>
                    </tasks>
            </action>

Hi Juli,

Please install the attached midimap (place it in the "user" folder).
The release button is already working as soon as you use this midimap, the feedback with the LED will be working in the next release using this midimap.

Bart

Hi Bart,

thanks for your response.
I uploaded Maarten's SysEx-File and your Midimap but nothing changed :-(
The release-function itself works, but i get no feedback from cuelux for the button-led.

Regards Juli

PS: I think found a bug in the SysEx-File: PushEncoder 5, EncouderGroup 1 has the Index 36, but I think it should be 37 ;-)

Hi Juli,

The feedback for the Release button is not implemented in Cuelux yet, I have just implemented it in our development code.
It will be working when we make a new Cuelux release.
(The midimap is already Release Feedback-proof) ;)

Bart

On our website you can find Cuelux 1.03.25.
In this version the feedback control should work for the Release function.

Hi Bart,

the Relase-Button works now just fine; thx for that :-)

But I still have  problems with the Attack-Feedback :-( When I change the value at cuelux, the led on the BCF jumps to one position and stays there.

The direction bcf => cuelux works just fine, only the other way round makes problems.

Hello!

My name is Luka and i'm new on this forum:) I started to use Cuelux with Behringer BCF2000. Everything works fine, i just have one problem!

Is it posible, to do something that the buttons in MIDI controler works like a mouse? So if i want to start playback in have to push button 2 times. Ist's not like i click on mouse;(

This is good for global fog (pres when you want to start foging and pres again when you want to start)

I hope you will understand me:) So again...my problem in that buttons on MIDI works like a switch not as a key

Best regards!

Luka

Hi Luka,
Perhaps you can try it with the flash-button and the fader start option. Than the cuelist starts when you push the flash-button and it stops when you release it.

It sounds to me like an issue you get when the special Cuelux sysex file is not loaded into your BCF yet. Please have a read at the beginning of this thread.

Hello,

I've got two problems with the speed/attack feedback:

Playback Button speed-feedback:

I tried this code but it doesn't work:

<action>
    <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Playback Button 01 LevelSec</trigger>
         <tasks>
             <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
                  <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 1</argument>
              </task>
          </tasks>
</action>

Playback Fader attack-feedback:

<action>
  <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Playback Fader 1 Attack</trigger>
     <tasks>
        <task type="Midi" function ="Control">
             <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 25</argument>
        </task>
      </tasks>
</action>

Is this the right code oder do I have to change something?

Best regards,
Juli

Hi Frett, i think cuelux is not realy difficult. But normaly you only need to tranfer the midi sysex file and than you can work with the the bcf with cuelux. You need only coding if you want a different mapping.
And for the training. Were do you live? so maybe someone near to you can help you.

hi Frett,

All you need to do is upload the sysex file into your BCF using the steps described at the beginning of this thread. You don't to programm the BCF or Cuelux at all. Just select the correct midi settings in Cuelux.

hello,
are there any possibilities to control the parameters like rgb, gobos, tilt, pan with a bcf-2000?
I don't want to work with the mouse and the elation midicon is too expensive for having no motorized faders. Are there other alternatives for controlling the parameters and also the playback faders? Or is someone selling his Midicon or perhaps his tascam us-2400?

modifying the midimap file you can do what ever you want...so you can contro the 3 first programmer chanle of each page if you want...
but now if you put these 3 value on some faders on the bcf you will loose this space to put some playback fader...so you have to chosse what is the more usefull for you!!

Hi, I had my first show yesterday using cuelux, the bcf 2k with some new equipment and the equipment of the venue - it all worked, and me and the guys of the band i'm working for are very happy :) :)

besides, i still have an unsolved problem with programming the push encoders of the bcf 2k:

the push-function of e.g. encoder 1 should start the playback-button 1 in cuelux (in the upper section, not the one above the fader!) , pushing encoder 2 should start playback button 2 a.s.o.
right now i have to start it with the mouse in cuelux, but i'd like to have full control with both hands on one device...

i'm not very much into programming midi, i've dumped the sysex file into the bcf, and except for the p. encoders, all other functions are working, is there maybe some newer version of the sysex file i may have overseen?

thanks and greets from austria, michaela

I have everything working and I have replaced the fog button on the BCF 2000 with a strobo button. :) Now I want to have blinder, break , release and maybe other buttons in place of the flash buttons above the sliders. Does anybody know what I have to change in the midimapping? which index numbers are the flash buttons 1 till 8 in the original mapping? ??? Thanks for your reply!!

The simplest way to know wich midi chanel is each button is to use the midiox software you can download here:http://www.midiox.com/
once it's runing, you configure your midid device as it's sayed in the first post of this topic:
Quote
Configure MidiOX:

    Config your Midi Interface. Go to Menu "Options\MidiDevices" and select your BCF2000 on the right (out deviced) an left side (in devices).
    Press ok, and turn any fader, encoder, button on the bcf. You should see hex data in the midi OX main window. If this is ok, follow the next steps. If not, check your device manager if you could see the bcf2000.
and then when you will moove one fader or push one button of the BCF you will see on the sceen the midi chanel value!

The next step is to find the line corresponding to this midi chanel in the midimap file and then change the action corresponding to!
have fun...

ANd to know what are the key word for actions you can read this doc:
http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1609.0;attach=357

Fixed it anyways, it was the dead time, it was set to 0.

Have a go and see if you get a better result. With your bcf.

Enter Gs mode, edit and store, push down on knob 7. If its below 100 up it to 250 or maybe 500. Up to you! Have a go, everyone is different.

Thanks!

Mac 10.6.8
Cuelux vers. cuelux10337
SysExLibrarian 1.2.2
behringer_bcf2000_v2.syx file
dumped to
BCF2000 in BC mode ( hold top row most left button during booting )
and U-3 mode ( set in Global Setup mode with encoder 1 )
( For Global Setup mode press edit and store together )
Store Preset

Select in Cuelux - Midi - Port 1 for in and out, mapping BCF2000

Works now as expected...
I had a problem first with stuck feeling faders ( probably from midi foldback )
I searched for 3 hours and found encoder 7 in Global Setup was set to 0 ( zero )
everything higher than 40 works,
anybody knows what this setting is ?
The manual has empty lines on that row...
edit :
The BC Midi Implementation pdf has info on this
http://home.kpn.nl/f2hmjvandenberg281/download/BC/BC%20MIDI%20Implementation.pdf
It's the dead time...
Default chart :

1 : MidiMode U-3
4 : StartupPreset last
3 : FootSwitch auto
2 : ReceiveChannel off
5 : DeviceID 1
6 : Sysex dump  ? not mentioned
7 : DeadTime 100
8 : TransmissionInterval 20

Thanks everybody for help

Hi!

Im playing a bit with my BCR2000 (normaly i use a BCF, but that one is builded in in a flightcase, I use the BCR at home)
I have programmed on the encouder group 4 on the first fader the programmer faders with:
Code: [Select]
<action>
                    <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 25</trigger>
                    <tasks>
                        <task type="Special" feature="Programmer Wheel 1" function ="Control"/>
                    </tasks>
</action>
This works succesfull.
Now my question: how do i get feedback on this?
And is it only possible for the first 3 faders?

I also maded an encoder to select a programmer page:
Code: [Select]
<action>
    <trigger type="Midi" specifier="Change">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 60</trigger>
    <tasks>
<task type="Special" feature="Programmer Page" function ="Control" />
    </tasks>
</action>
Again the same question: how to get feedback on this...

Thanks!
Greetz,  Boyd!

Hello Boyd,

At the moment Cuelux doesn't support feedback for those functions.
In the pro version this has been extended and in the long term some of those functions will make it into the "normal" Cuelux editon.

Hello BCF2000 Freaks,

ich use for the BFC, "Hardware" Preset 1 the internal cuelux Sysex File.
I create 5 "Software" presets with Channel Specific Design (Fader, Flash, Start Release, Temp, Attack).
Now i will create "non" Channel Specific Designes. Via "hardware" Presets over 1? I want use switches
on the BCF for different actions, and want use the little faders abobe to trigger directly DMX Channels.
Possible? Can I Assign the Buttons on Top in Cuelux (Knob) on a free Preset to BCF?

Example Sofwtare Button 1 on Top Cuelux(knob) to Button X on BCF, currently it works only
when i click with Mouse in Cuelux. Non Flash, non Tempo, non attack...
It´s hard to declare that......

If the XML file contains errors it will ignore it without warning.
It might help opening the XML in Firefox for example because it give's more details:

Code: [Select]
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: file:///C:/Users/Dennis/Desktop/behringer.xml
Line Number 368, Column 23:        <trigger type=”Midi”specifier=”Change”>Channel 0 – Message 11 – Index 25</trigger>

So it looks like you used the ” instead of the "' character.

i'm not sure the "tempo restart" is a real key word for cuelus, i think it should be a "break".

No i mean the midi code to reset the BPM to 120. The API sais tempo restart, but i tried tempo reset too.
My customer loves to use the midimap finished this evening on a gig.

In Cuelux "Tempo Restart" is used to get the BMP back in sync incase it got shifted.
It doesn't reset the BMP value.

For CueluxPro there isn't a midi api available as it gets changed now and then.

Hello everybody,

i'm going to get an BCF2000 on Monday. I read this post and download the .syx file in this post (f.y.i, i have an mac.). Now i control cuelux with an Launchpad and an korg nanokontrol2. From Monday i will replace the korg by the bcf. I have changed the Nanokontrol, so he sent and receive the midi datas to channel 2. I changed it with the korg-kontroll-editor. that is necessary, because i've made a multiple midi-map (Launchpad + NanoKontrol2)

How can i change the channel in the BCF2000 ? must i changed the content in the .syx-File ?

Greets, Jens

I'll help you :D
In the zip file which you can download here: http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?topic=2911.0
Is a SysEx file of page 2 (p2 or page 2 is behind the name)
There is also a tutorial of dumping SysEx to your BCF in it, but you just have to dump the P2 file to the first preset on your BCF.
Have fun!

Hy Nijst001,

thank you very much !

i've dowloaded your files. I'll try it when i get the device. But one question: the post-link goes to cueluxpro-forum. I have cuelux. Is this a problem ?

No. It is only the configuration of your BCF. It changes the channel of all faders, knobs, ... To channel 2.
The thing what special is for cuelux pro is the midimap which is included. It gives you full control over the buttons, the same as the faders.

Hi,

has anyone got a mapping created which allows you to use the buttons as well? With the file at the start of the tutorial, I can only use the faders and bpm trigger - but the bpm trigger has to be pressed twice to get it to move, so tapping on a 100bpm track only shows me a value of 50bpms?

Also, is there anyway of selecting the blinder channel and joining it to a DMX Channel for my showtec Blinders - not DMXed, they will just run of a plug/dmx controller.

Any updates? Thanks in advance.

to solve your first problem you need to update the sysex file of the BCF.
You can transfert the sysex file you will findin the visual production folder to the bcf using midiOX.

Hi there! I'm new to cuelux. I wasted a lot of time to configure the bfc2000. But cmacrae and Klaus made my day! Thank you so much! I had the problem that the faders were not running smoothly. Good hint with the Global setup and encoder 7! Yeah!

BUT: I still have the problem that my flash Buttons just working as a toggle. Same to the Faders's Playback buttons. Where can I change it? On the BFC? On the XML file? On the sysex? Please give me a hint and the best would be an explanation how to do...

thanks in advance,

Cheers Mikko

you have to change it in the sysex file, you can do so by using the bcedit prog from Behringer, don't know why but in the standard sysex file on this forum the flashs are toggled. And you can use the right buttons also if you want, just check the lower buttons at the first screen on bcedit when you choose your sysex. Its very useful i got bank change, fog, blind, Homing position for the movings (edit a position you like and store it on a fader or button and give the bcf button this fader over sysex and mapping ) and some fx chasers (same as HomE position), and a tap and moving stop (which doesn't work as expected but its a cuelux thing i think) , thinking about to add a blackout and break. And I think its possible to make the encoder buttons work as the button bank, will be my next project on cuelux but i think will try it with the xtouch compact as soon as its aviable. If you do the butto thing think about what you need and don't toggle FOG its not cool if you try while soundcheck, the fogger isnt heated and you go away (came back and you couldnt see the stage anymore, musicians were pissed as hell  ::) )

Is it possible to get feedback on the play buttons, like on the faders? I would like to assign encoder group 3 & 4 of the BCF to the play buttons. Controlling them is already working, but it would be nice to receive feedback for controlling the led ring around the encoder.

I have found the midi api pdf referenced at page 4 of this thread. However, in the controlling part  seems to be a typo in it:

Code: [Select]
.............
Playback Direct Global 03
Playback Fader 1 : Playback fader relative to current bank selection
...
Playback Fader 24

Playback Fader 1 : Playback button relative to current bank selection
...
Playback Fader 32

Global Fog : Global Playback
Global Strobe
Global Blinder
.............
The third and fourth 'fader' should be 'button'? The controlling part is working :)

To create the feedback to the BCF I looked for inspiration at the xml that creates the feedback for the tempo and attack sliders on the faders.

I've tried it this way:
Code: [Select]
<action>
          <trigger type="Unsigned" specifier="Change">Playback Button 01 LevelSec</trigger>
          <tasks>
            <task type="Midi" function="Control">
              <argument type="Midi Address">Channel 0 - Message 11 - Index 17</argument>
            </task>
          </tasks>
        </action>

Looking at the documentation there does seem to be a 'LevelSec' argument available for the playback buttons. Is this the case, and if so, would it be possible te implement this like on the faders?

I think its possible. Copy the feedback for the faders, edit as you did for the executor butons/encoder.

AANNDD then: You have to activate group 3&4 for the bcf preset (think you did it already), then you have to look which MIDI parameters are sent from bcf from theese groups and change the values in your xml file according to this data (if some parameters crash with other functions you'll have to change the sysex aswell).

in simple: the stuff the bcf sends is what is saved in the bcf sysex. This information is send to cuelux which compares it with the xml mapping. So there must be the same data in the midimap as in sysex file.

As I always wanted to have my buttons on the push encoder buttons I'll try to do it myself. Will write if I get it

I posted this
http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?topic=1698.msg13900#msg13900

Maybe I found out why Cuelux doesn't follow the BCF2000 to zero...

BCF2000 in global settings, I changed
encoder 7 value to 200
encoder 8 value to 100

update

encoder 7 value to 150
encoder 8 value to 50
seems to work too

Hope this helps

Best

Klaus

BTW
Cuelux vers 94 doesn't see the BCF2000 as 'BCF2000'
in Windows XP even not if refreshed.
I have to choose 'USB audio device' in i/o and use BCF2000 mapping

( I mostly use Mac / OS X and there it is recognized as BCF2000 )

???

Thanks for help

Think this depends also on the USB driver of the BCF 2000

Once I had to install everything once again, about a year ago, thing was I didn`t found the drivers anymore, so I had to look up on net.
There I found one driver that named the BCF as a single BCF device on the manager. It didn't work proper on win 8, so I found another one which made 3 devices BCF2000-1, BCF2000-2 and BCF 2000-3. It has something to do whith the MIDI Channels the device uses I think,but I also never intrested why it is like that. At that time i was just happy that I got the stuff playing again.
Also I managed to kill the drivers sometime ago so the BCF was recognized but I was not able to load my sysex because MIDIOX sent the the data somewhere but not to the BCF.
I got it away by deleting the drivers but not only the ones shown when BCF is connected but the normaly invisible drivers too. Dont know how the menu is called in English but you have to change something in the Hardware Manager Menu and you'll see every driver ever installed on the mashine (e.G. Interface drivers of devices that were connected long ago, or drivers of stuff that isn't in the PC anymore, old graphics and stuff.) By then I had the BCF drivers installed about 3 or 4 times (same ones installed automaticly as copies). Maybe this will work for your problem also. Of course delete and reinstall. Think this has to be done sometimes when using the BCF otherwise windows will become a bit disorientated one day.
If you ever expirience the problem of not getting your sysex into BCF and dont have time to find out why or reinstall, try out BOME's SEND SX. Its same programer as MIDIOX and I dont know why but mostly it works.
I know you can save the sysex on BCF whith some buttons, my problem is I have the edit and store buttons changed to normal buttons in my sysex so I cant store, if someone knows how to save in this special case tell me please as its the most critical point of my shows to get the stupid sysex on the BCF, sometimes it works with MIDI OX at first try sometimes I have to restart my laptop 5 times or do the driver clearence thing.
Thanks for the tip about 0 value will try and tell whether it worked for me, this is one of the things that frustrated me the most about BCF. If nothing helps I will sell my BCF one day as if I compare the price today and what I paid my BCF has grown its value ( I paid about 200 €, try to find it for that price now :D). Still for Behringer its one of their best Products after x32 by today, if therewould not be a bcf on market it would be a sad world for cuelux as there is not a single alternative at this price for motorized faders.
