Hello,

Several weeks ago I've received the DMX input USB box.
So now we own the input and output box for Visual DMX

Last week I got the connection cables (because of a 5 pin system)
Today I've tried installing both the devices, but it didn't work as planned.

I just want to control my fixtures, using Visual DMX and a lightning device like a Zero Fatfrog.
So I connected both of the visual DMX devices to my laptop and installed them.
How do I connected them ??

DMXoutput:
1 DMX out port

DMXinput:
DMX in
DMX Thru

There are several possibilities:

Connecting the ZeroFatfrog to the DMX input device
Connecting the fixtures to the DMX output device
Now I can control the fixtures by Visual DMX but not with the Fatfrog

Connecting the ZeroFatrog to the DMX input device
Connecting the fixtures to the DMX Thru connector at the DMX input device.

But now the Visual DMX software doesn't work.

What do I do wrong ???
I don't get it........

please respond

greetingz

Dear Leonard,

The correct way of connecting your equipment is to plugyour fixtures into the DMX Output and the external desk to the DMX Input using the DMX IN connector, in your setup the DMX THRU connector is not used.

How to take use of your external desk in this setup?

Create a configuration of your fixtures as you would do normally when there was no DMX Input involved, this should allow you to control your fixtures with VisualDMX.
Then you should open up the Cue Editor, in this editor you can assign functions to each fader (DMX channel) of your control desk. This will allow you to control certain aspects of your fixtures with the desk.

An example: let's create a cue with the following settings:
source: DMX Input 1
trigger: channel 1
target: ALL
Actions: Dimmer (function set to 'Control')

Having made this cue and assuming all the hardware is properly connected, moving the fader of DMX Channel 1 will control the Dimmer level of every fixture in your configuration.

Next to controlling fixture attributes it is also possible to have other functions within VisualDMX being controlled by the external desk (eg. Grand Master, triggering sequences).

More information on programming cues can be found in the help file.

Good luck,
