Hi,

we are trying to get a scene setter 24 (
http://www.elationlighting.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1179&cat=Controllers%20Distributed%20By%20American%20DJ )
connected through visual dmx by MIDI support.

The Scene setter has the possibility to send out MIDI signals.
We've installed a external audio card with MIDI input and it is recognized by visual dmx.
At the moment we are not getting any signal on visual dmx.

Does anyone has done this before ?
How can we test if the MIDI In works fine ?
The manual is very limited about the MIDI support...

All tips are welcome

regards,
Tom Hendrix

Hi Tom,

How can we test if the MIDI In works fine ?

With the free tool MidiOX (http://www.midiox.com/app.htm), you can monitor incoming MIDI-signals to see if anything happens.

It seems the Scene Setter only sends Note On and Note Off data when Flash-buttons are pressed (so, faders are not sending MIDI-CC's - see Scene Setter User Manual page 26).

Regards,

Jeroen

for all questions on MIDI control, speak to Mark Andrew at Splash Productions in Scotland. He's the MIDI Man.
I know he personally has run many shows using MIDI to control Visual DMX.
