Installation on Linux (Ubuntu)

how do i install a *.install on linux I never saw this kind of file in Linux applications.

It is a self-extracting installer created with www.installjammer.com . So please just execute the file and check to following post http://www.visualproductions.nl/forum/index.php?topic=667.0.

Okay,
I doubleclicked on the file, which opens an error-message. I suppose I do not have to install installjammer.
All dependances mentioned are installed!
No way to install neither Cuelux nor Visualtouch.

You are right, you do not have to install installjammer itself.
Can you tell me what the error message says?
which version of Ubuntu are you running?

I am on Ubuntu  9.04 with all dependancies already installed. It just opens a small window with "Error".
Can i open a terminal? But which command should i use?

Hmm... that doesn't sound like a very usefull error message. Here in the office i've tested under 8.04 and 8.10. I'll try to find some time to test under 9.04...

I've now also tested with Ubuntu 9.04 and everything seems fine.

YESSSSSSSS,
this was just too easy, right click on the file and change permission to execute.

Its working now.
