problems in cuelux 0.34

hi cuelux team

we have had serious trouble last night with the 0.34 version of cuelux.
we even had to switch back to 0.29 ( because that was the latest version than at the laptop we had with us because 0.33 runs perfectly but we did not have that one with us)

problems.

1. it is verry hard to make the cuelux reconise the behringer bcf2000 we had to start up and reconnect the controller several times ( almost every possible way to restart and reconect we have had like first connect the contoller than start up cuelux and the other way around reconnecting controller while cuelux is running and so on)

2. when it finaly was connected and reconised by cuelux it tottally did nog work the light of midi glows up in cuelux when we pushet a button but it did nothing ( on screen pushing the button functioned ) we also here tridet several settings but did not help

3. several functions did not work fine or totaly not like sometims the strobo function did nothing or totally not what i wanted it to do

4. we also had problems with selecting and deselecting how this came so we don't have a cleu

this where the biggest problems

an other idee is that it would be possible that if you make a update ( what is great becaus everytime it gets better and more beautiful ) that the version before still is availebel so that there are always an old one and a new one availbeel because running with version 0.29 was nice to have an older version because 0.34 had to much problems to go on but it was even nicer if we could use 0.33

by the way we used it on a windows xp in a xvga setting

Too much work for such a small problem.. Why don't you just install 0.33 ànd 0.34 in two different directories and when 0.34 is not working, you fall back on 0.33??

But I can't confirm your problems because I use a touchscreen in stead of a MIDI-panel..

Thanks for your report. Can you try to explain what you mean with "several functions did not work fine"? You mean the Globals? And can you further explain the problems with selecting and deselecting fixtures you had?

We'll try to reproduce your problems - Maarten or I will get back to you ASAP.

When you download and install a new version of Cuelux, it proposes to install in the Cuelux034 (for example) folder. So if you install in the  default folder, you'll always have the previous version(s) of Cuelux with you in case something doesn't work correctly in the latest version.

well the deselecting / selecting thing is that when i select ot deselect sometimes the figure's flahst for a verry short moment and after the flash there where figure's selected or deselected witch i did not wanted to

an other iseu is that some movingheads did tottaly not respont to the functions prisma collor and gobo while cuelux 29 workted fine
and after restarting cuelux34 other movingheads did not respont to the beam the shows where still the same they did move but did not came any lite out of the movinghead it was verry odd because again version 0.29 had not a problem with it at all

I found the bug in v0.34 that caused the MIDI problems. It's fixed and version 0.35 is now online.

We have recently improved the fixture selection algoritm. The trick here is that we would like to combine the operations 'toggled selection' and 'new selection' without the use of SHIFT or CTRL/CMD buttons like Windows/Mac does. (on a touch screen you have no SHIFT or CTRL!).

Previously our approach was that normally you were making a 'toggled selection' but after 2 seconds of no activity your next click was a 'new selection' and after that the timing started again.

Now we adapted to a new algorithm. Again you start with a 'toggled selection', but now only until you've made a change in the programmer. The first selection click after fiddling with the programmer will be a 'new selection'. We think this way will improve the usability.

Perhaps this (unannounced) changed fixture selection behaviour led to some confusion?
