Hi all  :)

I have received an inquiry regarding the control of a total of 160 lamps, which are controlled either with DMX or Dali. All lamps are to be controlled individually and in groups via a smartphone.

As there are a lot of lamps to be controlled, I wanted to ask if such an installation is possible with a combination of Kiosc App + Cuecore's + DaliCore's?

Many thanks and best regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your question.
Indeed, you should be able to control all the fixtures using the Kiosc app and DaliCores. DaliCores are able to send out both Dali and DMX, and scenes that can include fixtures from both types can be triggered using the messages from the Kiosc app. If you need the DMX lights to be controlled by playbacks rather than scenes, then a CueCore might be needed.

Hi François,

Thank you very much for your quick and informative reply.
I was particularly concerned about the large number of lights and I currently have no experience with the Kiosc app.  Do you think that so many lights can be controlled well individually with the Kiosc app?

Thank you and kind regards
Alex :)

If you want each 160 individual lights to be controlled via the Kiosc, then we do not recommend doing that this way. It would mean a lot of pages with a lot of buttons and / or faders. That gets ugly really quickly.
Usually the lights are at least grouped, and then the group gets its commands from the DaliCore.

Please keep in mind that one DaliCore / Dali-1 bus can have up to Dali 64 fixtures connected at one time. So you will need 3 DaliCores to control all 160.

All depends on your requirements, though. Please feel free to email us at support [at] visualproductions.nl with a more elaborate work out of your plan, and we'll be happy to help you out there.
