Hi,

I recently upgraded to version Cuelux 1.6.34 (on Windows) as I read the mapping for the AKAI APC Mini Mk2 was included. However since upgrading, Cuelux keeps hanging:

If you switch from using the midi controller to the GUI during a show, the controller stops working completely.
Also I've had it where I loose complete control over the lights via the GUI - the clock still works and I could select the options, but all other controls stopped working. In the end I had to remove the USB connection to the APC Mini Mk2 2, but that caused Cuelux to crash completely.

Are there any know issues or anything to consider when upgrading to the latest version?

Many thanks,
Andy

I am sorry to read that you are having issues with the new version of Cuelux.
You are the first one reporting this kind of problem related to a MIDI controller.
From your description it looks like there is a feedback loop between the GUI and the midi controller, making everything slow and then making the system crash.
The Akai APC MINI MkII midimap had been done without the hardware as we do not have one, and so we were not able to test it. But as I said no one ever reported this problem.

To get a better idea of what is happening, could you try without selecting an MIDI OUT device. This would avoid the feedback loop.
Let's see if this solve the problem and then we will be able to have a deeper look it.

Thanks for the reply Julien.

I've removed the output device and have performed some testing:

Input device = APC mini mk2
Output device: none selected
Map: Akai APCmini MKII

I'm no longer able to re-create the same issue, but I'm finding that after a short period of heavy controller use, the controller stops working with Cuelux, although I can continue to use the GUI controls. I had this intermittently with the previous version (v10454) )but seems more consistent now.

The only way around it is to unplug the controller from USB and restart Cuelux. Once that is done it will continue to work until it drops out again.

Also note its a new APC Mini brought just for this.

Thanks,
Andy

thank you for the testing,
This is really strange. And we did not have anyone else complaining about this problem, but I know lots of Cuelux's users are using the APC mini MK2.
As I said I do not have the controller here so I cannot recreate your problem. The best would be to have a monitor view to see what the controller is doing.
To do that you can use MidiOx or use Cuelux Pro ( you don't need a licence for this).
In cuelux pro you will have to select the Akai Apc mini MK2 (options/communication/midi) and then go the the Midi monitor.
Check if the controller is only sending midi messages when you move it or if it sis continuously sending messages even if you do not touch it.

As a quick test, I installed Cuelux on my Mac (which is pretty old). So far that looks a lot better. I've got a show on Friday so will give it a good workout.

The other PC where I was getting problems was a Windows Pc running Windows 10.

Thanks,
Andy

This almost sounds like your PC can't supply enough power for the APC. It might be worth trying a powered USB hub in between the PC and APC so the hub is supplying the required power instead of the PC.
