This is not needed per sé. As long as:
- LPU-2 and laptop are both in DHCP mode. In that case they will fall back to a self-assigned address in the 169.254.xx.xx range, and able to talk to each other.
- LPU-2 and laptop are both manually configured to be in the same subnet. So, if the LPU-2 is on its default 192.168.1.10 address, with the 255.255.255.0 netmask, you configure your laptop to have 192.168.1.11 for instance, with the same netmask.
