Hi,

Recently I began to have issues with LPU-2 installations. I have one on a Unifi network on its own VLAN. After a couple of days or even hours the connection from the iPad towards the LPU-2 is dropped. After restarting the LPU the connection is recovered. Recently I also had this happen on a TP-Link network. I gave the LPU-2 on TP-Link network a static IP and configured the Kiosc to only send the UDP packages towards the specific IP as I've installed two LPU-2's for two different rooms. Haven't heard it is disconnected again.

Should I also give a static IP on the Unifi network and give a endpoint in the Kiosc app? Seems like some filter in Unifi kills the broadcast packages. Even though the IGMP snooping is off and other multicast filters.

VLAN config (both TP-Link and Unifi):
- IGMP Snooping OFF
- Multicast filter OFF

At one venue where I also do the network administration I see the LPU-2 is not connected anymore to the network.

Someone has similar experiences and have a solution?

Hi Maarten,

Thank you for reaching out. We have heard of a few cases with Unifi / Ubiquity network components that have similar issues: LPU disconnecting or freezing completely after some time. Sometimes a long, sometimes short intervals. As of yet, we have been unable to reproduce this in our office.

Would you be able to help us out, and send us screenshots of the network configuration(s) for the case where it does freeze? Just so we can copy that to see if, again, we can reproduce this, and work from there to solve it.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Maarten!

I forgot to mention that you could send it to us via email. ;)
But I've downloaded the png and removed it from the forum so privacy is secured.

Hi,
I stumbled onto this forum because of the same problem. Unifi network with sudden connection issues. Only a reboot of the LPU-2 resolves the problem. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a couple of hours.
Any idea what causes this?
Kind regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

We are aware that some people experience this issue. However, in our own network, running Ubiquity / Unifi devices, we are up to now unable to reproduce this issue.
You can help us by sending us (email: support [at] visualproductions [dot] nl) an overview (screenshot?) of the settings in your network. Whether you are using VLANs and whether your device is configured with a static or dynamic IP address.

This hopefully helps us to pinpoint what is causing the LPU to go into 'panic' mode.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I've had some experience swith LPU1 & 2 crashing on Unifi / Ubiquiti networks.

The DMX output is 0 and the LED is static instead of the breathing pattern.

I solved serveral cases by doing the following:
- Separate VLAN for the LPU
- VLAN tagged as an Isolated network

Hope this helps.

Hi all,

So I did some digging around and found a suitable solution that now has been working at two different venues without issues for the last couple of weeks.

What I did:
- The VLAN for the LPU has IGMP snooping off as well as the multicast filtering. That way I ensure that Unifi doesn't intervene with the traffic. Disclaimer: Make sure to not populate that VLAN with more multicast traffic as it could bring the whole network down on its knees. So I only have a dedicated VLAN for the LPU and Kiosc, that's it. Or devices and services which I know for sure doesn't use broadcast traffic. This is because IGMP snooping and multicast filtering is off.

- Assign a static IP to the LPU

- In the Kiosc app. Under the OSC and UDP tabs I changed the multicast IP to the IP of the LPU. That way the Kiosc only sends the UDP and OSC packets to the IP of the LPU.

This has been a smooth solution for me. Clients are happy and me as well as I don't receive phone calls anymore about Kiosc not functioning during events or not able to turn lights on/off before and after events.

Hi Maarten,

Thank you for this! We will be triple checking it in house, and when found suitable make a proper announcement for our distributors as well.

Again: your work is very much appreciated!
