I see there's another post with this, but I'm new enough to OSC and this type of system that I can't seem to reverse engineer it correctly to my setup.

We just installed a CueCore2 and 2 Bstations in the same room for lighting control. CueCore controls the lights through playbacks with Art-Net. B-Stations control the CueCore. It all works but I'm trying to optimize it 2 different ways.

First, syncing the 2 Bstations together. I saw the other post about making sure the BStations send the same messages, but I get lost when it comes to the CueCore side. I would like the lights on the BStation to sync together so that both reflect the same intensity and color. I have it set currently to change back to white and 10% intensity when a playback is turned off (long press) and change color and go to 100% when a playback is turned on (short press). I don't know how to send back the right message from the CueCore to control both BStations. I have uploaded the files for CueCore and BStation.

The second thing I would like to do is have buttons 1-4 control playbacks and then buttons 5 and 6 control dimming if possible so people could dim the whole room on the fly if possible. Is there any way to program this?

Thanks and let me know if there is anything else you need.
Tyler

Hi Tyler,

Good to hear you are using our devices. And, having looked at your backups, you've come along very nicely indeed!

I have a few pointers for you, to guide you on the way to how you want to have your system set up.

First, an FYI: There are two ways to 'talk' between the devices via network messages. One is the API, pre-programmed behaviour triggered by specific network messages. Requiring programming of the outgoing message only.
And the second is through custom messages, requiring you to program the behaviour on both devices yourself.
The API options are described in the manuals for both devices, which you can find on our downloads page. They are the very last appendices to both manuals.

Second: the best idea is to have the B-Station send a message to the CueCore, but NOT set its own button-LED colour and intensity. Rather, have the CueCore send that information to the B-Stations as a result of the state of the Playback. (hint: Use the 'Playback' Action List for this)
See the attached backups for how that works on button 1 ;)

Then finally, yes it is very possible to program the 'master' intensity via the two buttons. Again: See the API messages available ;). And you can program an appropriate feedback in the same way as in the previous point.

I've purposely not done all the programming for you, as I believe you will learn more by hands-on experiencing it. I hope you don't mind...

Kind regards,

Thank you! And yes it is good to not have the whole thing done for me so I can learn. I'll get working on that and respond if I can't figure something out.

Okay so I have all of that figure out now and programmed up. Thanks for your help!

I have another question that popped up while programming. We use Lightkey as our Console. It's how I've programmed scenes into tracks on the CueCore to be recalled in playbacks. What I'm curious of is that I have programmed the CueCore correctly to accept and route DMX signal correctly. We have 2 Universes and here's my signal flow:

Lightkey Outputs to ArtNet universe 14 and 15
Cue Core ArtNet input set to 0.14 for Universe A and 0.15 for Universe B
Cue Core ArtNet output set to 0.1 and 0.2 respectively.

Is this the ideal way to do that? I only ask because sometimes I feel like there's some slight light changes whenever Lightkey is opened like it's not commanding full control of the lights. But it seems to do some under the hood DMX control that I can't seem to control light a traditional console.

Hopefully that makes sense.
Thanks
Tyler

Hi Tyler,

there is no right, wrong or ideal way to do this, other than what makes sense to your setup.

Do keep in mind that Art-Net is 'zero-based'. And counts 16 nets and 16 universes per net. So universe 0.0 is actually the first universe on the first net, 0.15 is the 16th, 1.0 is the 17th in total, but the first on the second net, and so on until 15.15.
So when you say you're outputting from Lightkey on universes 14 and 15, they might be translated as 0.13 and 0.14 instead.

Just make sure the numbers are correct on any output and corresponding input(s) and you should be good!

Cheers,
