Hi,

I have a quadcore, and a couple of SpiNodes. Trying to get them to work together to do some animated pixel lighting effects with WS2815 type led lights.

So far I have been able to connect the Quadcore and the SpiNode to an ethernet switch, and can get my pc to recognize the two devices.

I'm able to use the "browse" function on both devices.

On the SpiNode, I can test 3 strips that I have connected to SPI A , SPI B and SPI C.

And that's about as far as I have been able to go. I am VERY new to trying to work with these things, and am not sure how to enter any code into the Quadcore to send to the spinode to test lighting.

If anyone has advice, or even test patterns that I can load onto the quadcore to try, I would be very appreciative!

Also looking for any advice on things to look into (read/watch) to learn more on how to control these things, I'd love to get recommendations.

The QuadCore is a DMX recorder, to get it output some content for your strips you first need to record it in the QuadCore Memory.
To create this content you can use any Pixel mapping console or software, like Madrix, Resolume, Mad Mapper etc.
If you do not have any of those you can also use the matrix tool of the Cuelux pro software.

Once your content is recorded in a QuadCore track, you can assign this track to a playback and play it.

Now, using a QuadCore for a SPI usage may not be the best. SPI easily use a lot's of universes and had the content is most of the time quite dynamic it will quickly use the memory space of the QuadCore, that is more suitable for Static scenes.
In your case, I would advise you to have a look at the CueCore3, it has 40 times more memory for storing the content and will be able to store 32 universes when paired with your SpiNode.

We've finally gotten the two devices to recognize each other, so we were able to dump some basic track info from cuelux pro onto the Quadcore, and have it push those commands to the SpiNode!

I agree that the CueCore3 would have been better for what we needed. We were basically trying to emulate what another designer had used for a different studio, so we purchased what they had used in the past.

Coming into the world of lighting a little blind, so taking the first steps is challenging. :)

We were wondering if the following is possible.

We have the Quadcore, and 2 SpiNodes connected to a POE switch. If we assign Port A and B on SpiNode 1 to be Universe 1 , and Port C and D on Spinode 1 to be Universe 2, with ports A and B on SpiNode 2 as Universe 3 and ports C and D on SpiNode2 to be Universe 4, will the Quadcore be able to push signals to each spinode independently?

there is no problems to send the universes to different SpiNodes.
In this case the best is to use sACN. Activate the sACN outputs in the QuadCore settings by assigning a universe number for each output, and just configure the SpiNodes ports to fit those sACN numbers.
It should directly work.
