Dear colleags!
Happy Holidays to everybody!
Good health and a lot of good time!!!

Dear Maartens,
I want to share one idea you may find interesting.
D-Link makes wireless routers like DIR-655.
This unit has USB port designed for sharing printers, scanners and so on.
Some time ago I tryed to hook up my digital audio mixer with my wireless tablet
and after some time I did it.
Now I can walk throw the venue with my tablet EQing, mixing and so on. This is great!
Today I tryed it with my Cuelux (actually with Emulation).
Driver installed  - no problems.
It was working for couple minutes pretty good - I was testing it with one fixture.
But then program got frozen.
Actually DIR-655 was frozen too.
I had to restart both the router and the tablet to get it working again, but again it was only for couple minutes.
Maybe it make sense for you to check the driver compatibility with D-Link.
It can make a great option for your great software.
P.S. I hope that bandwith will be enough to carry DMX information.
With my audio setup I am able to use real time audio analyzer up to at least 50 meters, and this is a lot of real time
       information.
                  Svet.

I've done a similar thing using the Lantronix UBox 4100 (http://www.lantronix.com/device-networking/external-device-servers/ubox.html) and VisualDMX. Worked for me.

The difference is that D-link DIR655 is wireless router itself, so you eliminate one extra box (plus cable, power supply etc).
Helps in live situation.

Don't know how the bandwidth-management in the D-Link/Belkin works, the Lantronix was oen of the first that also works great with streaming video/audio/high bandwidth applications.

You're right .. the 665 is a wireless unit as well .. but as you say, it also drops out :)

I have a wireless router in the racks anyways, and it allows me to use an N router for more bandwidth anyway. Plus I have a 3G port on my router and can do some cool stuff online.

the things you learn on your own forum  :D

I would like Cuelux to work with DIR-665, it sounds like you have a great setup together with your tablet. It will be difficult to trouble shoot this issue. In general Cuelux doesn't not send a lot of data via the USB, so I don't think bandwidth would be an issue. It does, however, keeps sending little messages to check whether the CueCable is disconnected. Maybe going through ethernet, through wireless, somewhere the timings go pear shaped and things get muddy.

Now I just need to find a good excuse to buy one these cool routers and, armed with a debugger,  have a go myself...

As I say .. the belkin never drops .. I know just leave the cable in a rack .. open the netbook and my lights are up ..

It's sweet .. (will be great when the midi part is completed).
